Today we’ll finish of our round-up of December 2012 Needlepoint Projects. I thought there wasn’t much out there but I keep finding more new and innovative products. My stash is full to overflowing, even so I’m hoping that ‘m giving your ideas for spending your Christmas money.
MAP Designs is now distributing Designs by Beth, a new young artist. She has a lovely seascape that would be a perfect starting point for a real celebration of stitches.
Winnetka Stitchery is well-known for their witty needlepoints of sayings. Two I love have wine as a theme: “Group Therapy” and “File Is Missing” These could be clever and unexpected gifts.
Liz Goodrick-Dillon (Tapestry Tent) has a lovely nativity stocking with the Holy Family & the animals in the stable. It’s available through Susan Roberts. Susan also has a marvelous 30″ tall nutcracker available on 13-mesh. The trumpet-carrying nutcracker would be a great centerpiece for holiday decorations.
The pineapple is the traditional symbol of hospitality. Lee Needle Arts has a new pineapple design that’s made to fit their computer bag. The Shivering Sheep has a new series of birds. The first one in the Fowl Collection is a rooster with a vividly colored tail.
JulieMar & Friends has added collegiate balloons to their series of collegiate snowmen. A variety of schools are available. They also have a lovely still life canvas of both Dutch & bearded irises.
Kelly Clark has a new series of stocking toppers, perfect for those who don’t want to do a whole stocking. She also has a new petite nativity set. It will ship to shops beginning Feb 1. Stitch guides are available for all the figures.
Remember the great “eat. sleep. stitch.” sleep shirts that came out earlier this year? They are now available as canvases in several formats. Beth’s Needlepoint is the designer.
Kits & Charts
Threedles has a lovely butterfly design called Mariposa. It’s available in three colorways and features complex stitching.
Jeff Kulick has come out with a new charted canvas project based on his award-winning project. “Deconstructed Log Cabin” is based on many of the principles of modern quilting. I just love this design and can’t wait to stitch it. He has also come out with a notebook project that uses Nature’s Palette colored canvas, and sparkly threads. It is a great abstract design.
Alice Peterson Company has several new Stitch & Zip kits coming out. Ink Circles has taken the iconic Swedish Dala Horse and created a witty sampler with several new Dala animals, including a snail, rabbit, and squid. Memory Thread is used for the harnesses and reins. It’s designed froror Cross Stitch but it could be done as charted needlepoint.
Handblessings has a beginning needlepoint sampler that has clearly diagrammed stitches. It’s called “Holly Patch” and includes a holly leaf charm to finish off the design. They also have a holiday-themed ORT box. It is a textured stitch wreath. These projects come with a papier mache box, just glue the finished needlepoint onto the box top & you’re done.
