Silk Straw has added 8 new colors: Pink Grapefruit, Quince Bloom, Florida Orange, Georgia Peach, Jade, C’ foam, Mint, and Polar Bear. The colors include 2 each of pinks and light oranges, a true white, and 3 teals. I love these new colors and can’t wait to get mine. Renaissance Designs has added a new thread, Skinny Suede.
Valerie Needlepoint Gallery has 4 new LL Bean style tote bag ornaments and half a dozen new hearts including “Love Your Cat” and “Love Your Dog” designs. Alice Peterson has lots of new canvases. There are round ornaments with “designer” prints, a pineapple covered with flowers, and several shopfronts in a European style. Tapestry Fair has a series of 7 cheeky pumpkins on a single canvas including a pirate and a cat. A new series of canvases from Eye Candy is Swan Lake. There are to canvases available in both a warm and a cool color scheme. Kristine Kingston has new geometric clutches.
Have you ever wanted to design an original hinged box? Funda Scully now has the hinge hardware available in lovely designs in both gold and silver. Her new designs include several great canvases for hinged boxes. There are two great shoes boxes, an adorable keepsake box for baby items with giraffes on the band, a golfers’ box, and lots more. There are designs ranging from Victorian florals, to contemporary animal prints.
A Stitch in Time has some colorful stash buster canvases that would be great for hobbyists. There is one of bright skulling oars. Another is a line of small cacti in pots. The third is a stack of books. They have expanded their series of superhero small figures. Danji has several animals in big aviator sunglasses, including a flamingo and an octopus. They also have candy canes and squares honoring each branch of the armed forces. A new series from Associated Talents is their Chinoiserie series with canvases of oriental designs in a lovely blue-and-white color scheme. They have also added a patriotic elephant and donkey to their pull-toy line of canvases.
A Bradley has added 3 new floral eggs for spring. There is also a lovely white bunny in a softly-colored round. Penny MacLeod is seeing stars with two new series, both with three canvases. One has stars in a soft color scheme of red, white, and blue against simple backgrounds in the same colors. The other has more colors, but still a soft palette. There are two sampler styles with 9 and 25 stars each and one with larger star against a black-and-white striped background. All will be available in December.
Kate Dickerson has added several new Madras plaid pillows or standup in heart or whale shapes. The new color scheme uses three plaids in yellow, light blue, pink, and green. She also has a line of colorful pumpkins available as a group or singly.
Machelle Somerville has an outstanding cosmetic case that’s black with one of her wonderful flowers in orange and yellow on the front. She also has a great series of large single initials, each with delightful and unique patterns ranging from swirls to plaids. Dream House has some diamond fleur de lis canvases, that is perfect for an ornament. And you can easily finish it yourself!
One of Painted Pony’s licensed artists, LorLynn Simms, has a new series, Fabulous Females. The designs are 6×8 making them projects that can be finished in ready-made frames. Another of their artists, Suzanne Nichol, has an adorable series of five llama canvases. I love the one that’s sniffing a cactus on his back. Another colorful canvas from the company proclaims “china in charge.”
Anne Fisher has a backgammon board that full of Bargello patterns that fill alternating points and the center line. Julia’s Needleworks has a Gone Fishing rectangle with a border of fish. You can leave out the center to make a picture frame to show off a prized catch.
One of the most popular canvases at the show is a new nativity canvas from Shelly Tribbey. The figures are scattered in and around Peace” in gold against the black silhouette of Bethlehem. Viola has added three new Christmas flasks in their popular preppy pink & lime color scheme. JP Needlepoint has a lovely Christmas canvas that has a feather tree with cardinals on it surrounded by a red border with snowflakes.
Pippin has added 4 new beginner kits: a teapot, a pitcher, a crab, and a stocking cap. The kits come with #3 pearl cotton, canvas, mat, frame, needle, and instructions. Think about this as a great stressless project for anyone or a perfect gift for someone wanting to stitch. Another new canvas has five princesses with the famous Shakespeare quote “though she be but little . . .” around the border.
Handblessings has a new Ort box in primary colors. It features Rhodes Heart and is a great teaching piece. DeElda has added five new beginner kits. Rainbow, unicorn,mermaid, bee, and racer join the line. Jean Smith has added a Farmer’s Market series of close-ups of vegetables. For a different fall canvas, try the canvas of gourds from this series. A humorous canvas from Alice Peterson proclaims that the dirty dishes are staring.
The Meredith Collection has added a set of great pirate’s legs added to the collection of feet rounds. A great new series from the company is “voraciously beautiful bugs,” all on 13 mesh and 16″ square. There are 8 very colorful bugs in the series.
