Finishing your Needlepoint

May 1, 2010

Which do you do with your needlepoint that’s completely stitched?

  • finish it myself as each piece is completed
  • have each piece finished as it is completed
  • wait until there are a bunch of pieces and finish them myself
  • wait until there are a bunch of pieces and have them finished
  • stick them someplace and hope inspiration strikes

I will admit, I am no good at finishing. I’m cheap, I stitch many things, and I procrastinate. I do not think I’m unusual in this and I wish I was different.

So I’d like to hear from you about what you do and your strategies for finishing.

LOL! No question but stick them someplace and hope inspiration strikes. I have finshed a few pieces that were kitted to be finished. I have also finished those things that I have given away, but mostly I have a fairly full drawer. Some day I will finish finish a lot of them together.

Oh jeepers, •stick them someplace and hope inspiration strikes’ without doubt!
I have a cupboard where things that I have finished stitching live. The idea of course,is that they will progress from there, to being “dinished”, but there are pieces in there that haven’t seen the light of day for years.

But that’s ok – it is the process of stitching that I enjoy. I very rarely stitch something with the idea of it actually being “finished”.

Lately though, I have been completing more and more by simply wrapping them around foma-core board so they can hang, frameless, on the wall. But it’s still the process of stitching I enjoy the most.
