You may not need to know ASCII to program a computer anymore, but this ASCII table done in cross stitch is a delightful modern take on a sampler.

I just love it and it would make a great needlepoint piece. First find graphic of an ASCII table, then find two charted alphabets to use. The smallest alphabets I know are five stitches high. Using these would make the table blocks 10 or 12 threads high and about the same size wide.

Your second alphabet will need to be slightly smaller than the block size. I’d chart the blocks out to be sire everything fits, using this sampler as an example. The lines in the table should be Backstitch to keep them thin.

I wouldn’t plan on stitching the background. You’ll need four colors of thread: black, red, green, and blue. The result will be a cook geek sampler.

Here are more detailed photos of the project.
