Needlepoint Damask, when a metallic thread is used, becomes even more elegant than the same stitch done in two non-metallic threads (see here). Another close-to-the-center patch on a two-patch arm, the combination of gold metallic for the design with gold silk floss for the background creates a quiet restful pattern.
You will use two threads for this patv=ch:
- gold metallic braid
- matching stranded thread (model uses silk)
I find it easiest to stitch the pattern first, charted above. This pattern has I shapes in two directions. It’s easiest to stitch in Continental. Once complete fill in the backgrounds with the matching non-metallic thread.
Next week, more great vintage charts. The next sampler patch will be in two weeks.
