Great Crafty Site – Dollar Store Crafts

This month, on Fridays, I want to share with you some of my favorite non-needlepoint craft sites. One of the ones I check daily is Dollar Store Crafts. Dollar stores are one of the fastest growing segments in retail, which is not all that surprising in these days of thrift.
If you are lucky, you live near an outpost of one of the major dollar store chains, like Dollar Tree. In these stores, which are large, you should be able to find many of the items needed for these projects. If you shop in smaller dollar stores it might be more difficult to find the items, but most of the projects can be done inexpensively from items you find at home, in thrift shops, or in other stores.
Most of the crafts require minimal skills and give great results, like the boxy pouch pictured above, which is from earlier this week. Every project has the items and their cost listed, with a total price for the project. Often, they use items you have at home as well as stuff from the dollar store.
Sometimes the instructions for the project are in the post, but most of the time, the post lists the items needed and links you to a tutorial which has detailed instructions.
At the end of every post there is a list of related posts and projects for more great projects.
I’m very jazzed about this site and I think I’m never going to look at placemats at the thrift store the same way.
