Great New Needlepoint Articles on Blogs

I’m getting caught up so I wanted to share with you some great needlepoint blogs posts with lots of good information.
First off, Sharon B shares with us this lovely wide border. It uses Algerian Eye, Cross Stitch, and Straight Gobelin. I love how the soft overdyed thread adds so much to it.
It’s band 79 of her band sampler, so poke around to find more great stitches and inspiring ideas.
Orna Willis has additions to the How To Section on her site. The first is a how to on making pillows, an easy kind of finishing for anyone who can sew.
She also has some new color experiments. One using Flamingo Watercolours (pictured above). The other uses Mulberry Blues from Orphir.

I love this little keychain from Bargello Needlepoint. A great example of a thrifty craft, it uses a photo keychain from Walmart and only takes a scrap of canvas, and some leftover threads. You can easily make it in an evening with any Bargello pattern you like.
I have to go grocery shop this afternoon, so I’m going to pick some up to use those scraps of canvas I have all over the place.
Judy Harper has a lovely selection of crosses you could use to make personal prayer cushions. They would also be lovely stitched alone or with a name for a First Communion or Confirmation present.
There’s some good stuff coming down the pike as well. Tomorrow there will be an article about adapting cross stitch charts to needlepoint with pictures of what to look for in a chart. Monday I’ll have a summary about Judy Harper’s great series about adding Basketweave edges to odd shapes.
