Trying to make your own thread can be a daunting process. There’s the prep part (worse for some fibers than others), the spinning part (not something I’m coordinated enough to do), and the dyeing part (I can do that but not consistently).
As a result, I’m in awe of even small companies that can produce thread consistently. But imagine doing it on the scale of a major company such as DMC!
We don’t have to imagine any longer because on DMC’s blog there is a wonderful post about how their threads are made.
