I admit it, my first thought on seeing this canvas on Pinterest a couple of days ago was “Someone must REALLY love badmiton.” But, as it turns out, I was wrong.
It’s a canvas from KC Needlepoint of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. Sue Dulle bought it and stitched it up recently.
She also blogged about the process she used to come up with her inventive stitching. I love that she started with research.
That’s something we often forget when stitching landmarks. These are real places, even though our canvases might not reflect the reality. By doing research you’ll know what the building is made of, what is an amazing focal point, and what stitches can render it best.
Remeber when you stitch a landmark, you are doing more than just stitching a pretty canvas, you are stitching a memory of something real. Make the needlepoint fit the memory.

Thanks Janet.
Yes, this is our art gallery. I have many fond memories spent here with my dad; then taking my sons and now just walking around with my hubby to keep the legs working.
