Mimbres Luggage Tags

May 30, 2007

I love the clean designs of the ancient petroglyphs of the Mimbres of the American Southwest.

These designs have inspired many artists. One of my favorites is the “Mimbres” dinnerware which was used on the Santa Fe Railroad in the mid-20th Century. (Take a look for it on eBay to see how popular it remains.)

Mimbres Luggage Tag

This is my first foray into painted canvas and is a Mimbres fish. It will be premiering at TNNA and is designed to fit into a Lee’s Needle Arts Luggage Tag.

This fish is one of a series of five luggage tags. All of them will come with a one-page Stitch Map.

You can find them in Whimsy & grace’s booth, part of The Point of It All, at the TNNA Summer Market.
