Needlepoint Vacation

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

We all need vacations sometimes. But sometimes we can’t get away. Needlepoint gives you many of the benefits of a vacation — the calming effect of the stitching, the mental break, the stress relief.

When needlepoint is your job as well as your passion, this can be a problem. And that’s my situation right now.

In the past few weeks I’ve finished a ton of stuff, gotten three ebooks out, and written a bunch of stitch guides. But my stitching is very slow and that tells me I need a little vacation.

Since going away isn’t an option and my Sunday Stitching hasn’t been enough of a break, I’m taking a week off to stitch for me. I’m going to work on stitching projects that aren’t for new books, ebooks, models, or, probably, even for gifts. They will just be for me.

I started doing this on Sunday and finished my Sunday project, did a kit I bought at the ANG Auction and started a SHEAR Creations project from my stash. And I am a much happier camper. On the non-stitching side, I finished one project and plan on finishing two others today.

So the vacation is doing it’s job!

  1. Never thought of stitching as a vacation exactly, but will from now on. Glad you are taking a break and doing some stitching for yourself. We all need to do that once in a while. Have fun!!

You deserve a vacation! I am always impressed at how dedicated you are to this blog. You often have 2-3 postings per day, every day! Many bloggers would be happy with 2-3 postings per week.

I received the beautiful green threads yesterday, thank you so much! I love the name of the color “witches brew”!

    Enjoy your stitching time!
