The new colors from Silk & Ivory have three grays (Pewter, Smoky Quartz, and Onyx), and a great pale yellow orange, Straw. Pewter and Straw are those “almost white” colors they do so well. I adore using them as background colors. I pick the one of these that most closely echoes the colors in the piece. It reinforces that but isn’t nearly as harsh as white. Onyx, joins Caviar as another “almost black,” something else I love. There are now 220 colors from bpp.
Bella Lusso, the Italian crewel wool, has come out with 13 new colors, as I reported earlier. Pictured are some of the colors, a great yellow-green family, perfect for new leaves. Others include a lovely family of periwinkle blues, a couple of raspberries, and two true blues, one bright and one a sky blue.
Planet Earth, a new (2009) silk thread line from Tilli Thomas, has three new color families. One has five delicious colors of yellow-orange and bright orange. Another has four “old gold” neutrals. Four blues, pictured, make up the last family. And the names are marvelous: Amber, Calypso, Poseidon, Almond, and more.
