New Products in Needlepoint – Late November 2009
I have so much new product news to share with you, that I think it’s going to take up both today and tomorrow’s posts. This will have about half the great stuff I just learned. Remember that often manufacturer’s websites lag behind announcements, so the products I talk about may not be on the linked sites.
Threads
Gloriana Threads has three new colors of silk, Flowers of Italy, Holly Berry, and Leaf Green. Holly Berry is one of my favorite shades of Lorikeet, so if you like red, seek it out. There is also a new color family in Lorikeet, Celstial Blue.
Crescent Colours will be introducing perle #8 with 30 colors in January. They have also come out with new colors for Christmas. Bella Lusso (crewel weight Italian wool) is adding 15 new color, including lovely mauves, natural greens, and more.
Painted Canvas & Kits
River Silks has three stunning, modern kits of flowers stitched using their ribbons. Designed by Terry Dryden, they are 5″ square and come in Gerbera Daisy, Hibiscus, and Orchid. They are easy to stitch and teach skills you can apply to other projects.
All about Stitching has a matching Mr & Mrs. Claus, with Mrs. Claus baking gingerbread men. Raymond Crawford has a neat Christmas swirl and a fun autumn still life in his signature style.
CBK Needlepoint Collection has some lovely mini totes to stitch from Stark Art Designs, including Tiffany and Burberry. They are also announcing a new artist, Michele Noiset, available in January. I saw a couple of her Santa designs and they are adorable.
Judi & Co has two great new ideas in needlepoint bags. One is a clutch with a needlepoint body and ruffles on the top. The other is a wide needlepoint border, made as the top of a cloth bag. The decorative handles attach to the needlepoint. The designs I saw were modern and elegant. I love the new painted belt designs from Finger Step Designs. The five patterns are geometric. They are distributed by Custom House.
Charts & Accessories
Thinking about the Quaker Stitch post from Friday, I found some more. Rosewood Manor has a charming stocking and sampler. I also found some from Ink Circles and The Marking Sampler.
DebBee’s Designs has just come out with Carnelian in their Glitz & Glamour series and it’s a wonderful design. Brenda Kocher has an Or Nue teaching piece available. This technique is fun, but there aren’t many projects for it.
I found out about an innovative kind of scroll bar cover this weekend. Instead of being cloth all the way, these are open at either end, with elastic, so they will fit a wider assortment of frames. They are made of cotton in assorted prints. Available from Yarn Tree. Nordic Needle has a cute cat needle minder, along with some other cat-themed accessories. They have also come out with counting pins with magnetic tops to hold your needle.
Finishing
Sudberry House has a new box for lovers of tiny needlepoint. The mini box has an opening 1.75″ square, is lined, and comes in four finishes, white, red, black, and mahogany. They have also brought back the Picture Frame box and Petite Mantel Clock, each with a 5″ x 7″ design area.
