On Cats, Large Projects, and Stitching

I’m working on a large project, Happy Heart’s Winter Wreath (stitch guide soon), and it is quite big, as in 20″ stretcher bars.

These days I sit on the couch with the footrest up and stitch, often with a blanket on.

This presents a temptation to two of my cats, Wakko & Dot, which they cannot resist. So almost always there is one cat, and often two, in my lap.

Stitching with twenty pounds of cat on your lap is bad enough. You cannot move so you better hope you were comfortable when they climbed on. But stitching something large presents even more difficulties.

You can imagine trying to rethread your needle, or end a thread with these lumps in the way.

I’m so glad the piece is fun or I’d never get anything done.
