I’m off in San Mateo, California (near the SF Airport) for Maker Faire this weekend. The theme for the Faire is “Reuse America and that’s what I’m doing.
All the new Bargello needlepoint I made for the show as well as all the 20 pieces I’m taking to demonstrate and work on are all made using threads entirely from my stash. Finding nice color combinations there is plenty challenging.
I have leftover knitting yarn from a friend which is the basis for some pieces.
The models I made all used canvas from my stash. For the things I’m taking to the show, I’m going to have to break out new canvas, but not for everything.
So while I’m gone I want to give you some ideas for reuse in needlepoint.
Earlier this week on Bargello Needlepoint, Althea blogged about her method to use painted canvases she won’t stitch for Bargello. I have reduced my stash considerably but I do have plenty of false start projects with partial painting or miffed outlines. So I do this as well.
Try it with your stash. It’s a great way to reuse.
If you are in the area, stop by my booth at Maker Faire at the San Mateo County fairgrounds. It’s open tonight until 8.
