Joyce Shannon from EGA’s Keystone Chapter in New Castle, Pa sent me an email about the wonderful success of their Stitch in Public Day activities. She wrote:
“Just wanted you to know that the Stitch in Public Day in New Castle was a success. We were joined by members of a quilting group from the library, a lady who wanted so time to do some knitting in peace, and a lady who no longer stitched but wanted to see what was new and what everyone was doing. She requested – for next year – tents with displays and products. They all wanted catered lunch.
The County Commissioners proclaimed it to be Stitch in Public Day and the State Rep showed up to officially present us with a citation. I got a picture of him presenting it to me, taken by the news reporter. The reporter and photographer were suitably impressed.
It was a small group, but we had a good time. We could have had more, but they were at seminar. . . .”
Although Stitch in Public Day is over for this year, it’s a great time to be thinking how you can make needlework more public in your town.
