The Joys of eBay

April 28, 2006

Virtually every needlepointer I know collects canvases, often of a particular subject or by a particular designer.

Me I collect In Good Company (and other) mini-socks, and Christmas tree designs. I love Mika Partridge and ahve a few other designers whose work I’ve been wanting to try.

A dear friend told me she looks for canvases on eBay using the “Favorite search” feature. I’ve now become an addict. Just about anything you can search for, you can enter into this feature and get emails letting you know when items are listed matching the search. The emails have links directly to the item, so you can bid right away.

I’ve made a bunch of searches not only for needlepoint, but also for clothes I look for all the time and for jewelry designed by Stuary Nye, where I am lookng to replace and amazingly elusive piece.

I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks now and I have found:
a Kathy Schenkel nutcracker of a basball player to make for my DH
an In Good Company hand-painted mini-sock which hasn’t been made for about 15 years

Each day I look forward to the emails to see what’s there, even if I see nothing I want it is still like a littler present.

In fact writing this reminded me about the Christmas tree thing and I[m going to add that to my search list.
