Elizabeth Bradley and Kirk & Hamilton have merged to become a new needlepoint company, Kirk & Bradley.
As owner Nancy Young said in a phone interview last week, “The world of designers in the UK is small.” She knew Vernon Kirk and it made sense for her company to distribute the line of Kirk & Hamilton hand-paints.
In addition Kirk also designed some pieces for the Elizabeth Bradley line.
With the new company Kirk is continuing to design. New canvases introduced at the recent Market include two new florals, a line of six lighthouses in lovely soft sea glass colors, and a set of wonderful Florentine baubles (round ornaments).
This is just a taste of what’s to come. The new company is already planning a major release at the Winter Market in January 2014.
Young’s company will continue to distribute the Kirk & hamilton line but the changes will mean the product will be more easily available.
If their success with Elizabeth Bradley is any indication, this will be a great thing for needlepoint lovers. She has added many new series to the Bradley line, keeping the traditional style but with a broader range of designs. She has also brought back and almost doubled the line of lovely wool yarns, adding many beautiful contemporary colors.
