Tips for Painting Needlepoint Canvas & a Great Article

October 11, 2008

Susan Battle, the owner of The Point of It All, a lovely needlepoint shop in Washinfron, DC, shared some tips for painting needlepoint canvas with WTOP, a news radio station in DC.

Her advice in excellent and I wanted to share it with you.

I’d also like to add one of my own. If you are painting for yourself, it doesn’t have to look perfect, the way canvases in the shops do. After all, you will be stitching over it.

In addition, there is a wonderful article on the same site, from AP, talking in more depth about the process of painting canvases and about needlepoint.

I know from the experience of learning to paint canvases, twice and without success, that once you try it, you will really appreciate the skill and time which go into making handpainted needlepoint canvases.
