Vineyard Merino – Thread Review

The wonderful folk who make Vineyard Silk introduced a new thread earlier this year. The thread is 100% Merino Wool and is one of the nicest threads I’ve ever used. Merino is one of the finest wools, soft and smooth and the quality shows through. This thread is strong, isn’t scratchy and comes in wonderful colors. It comes in single strands that are more tightly twisted than most wools.
This is one of my favorite things about the thread. The smooth thread and tighter twist give it a texture similar to pearl cotton (pearl wool, anyone?) but it retains the softness and loft of wool. I loved the way it stitched up.
Vineyard Merino will work on 13 to 18 mesh canvas. I found it perfect for Bargello on 18 mesh, especially in light colors. The colors are dyed and numbered to match some of the solid colors of Vineyard Silk. While the silks have three digit color numbers and the prefix C, the wools have numbers beginning with 1000 and use the prefix M.
Look for this thread, it’s great!
