Sometimes I just feel cranky. Right now is one of those times. A combination of things yesterday brought this on. It stormed instead of being sunny for Easter. My heel still hurts. I didn’t get enough sleep. And to top it all of I was spending time looking at needlepoint on eBay yesterday morning and didn’t see much that excited me.
I’m feeling, in Shakespearean terms, “stale, flat, and unprofitable.” I hate feeling like this, especially since Saturday was a very productive day.
Probably the worst was my non-needlepoint search on eBay. I’m getting a wheelchair for travelling and it occurred to me that it would be good to have some kind of bag to hang off the handles to hold things, like my folding cane. So I went looking on eBay, my favorite place to look for stuff I can’t define well. There appear to be two choices for such things. One is an ugly nylon bag designed for wheelchairs that is overpriced and has negative style. But it’s easy to get at. The other is a backpack-type purse, which is less expensive, stylish, but hard to get at.
What I really want is something like my needlepoint tote bags. It would have a place in front to self-finish with needlepoint and would have leather straps in a different orientation than a normal tote to fit over the handles of the wheelchair.
Fat chance is the name of that tune, especially for the vacation later this month.
So I’m going to turn the tables on you and ask you what do you want that isn’t out there. Is it a tool, a particular design of canvas, a thread?
Let me know by leaving a comment and three people picked at random at the end of the month will win a copy of Needlepoint Trade Secrets (US addresses only please). I’ll pick the winners when I get back from vacation on May 6 or 7.

Vera Bradley has several very cute and bold print bag which can easily be changed to fit a walker or wheelchair. A simple straight stitch on the sewing machine and some velcro works very well.
Personally I need the money to buy everything I want, the time to stitch it all, enough wall space, and hands that don’t ache after too much canvas work.
Money would be nice, but I guess I can always buy a lottery ticket. Time is the second thing. Grocery shopping and cooking take up too much time. Seriously, Jinice has some great designs that have been retired. I understand Danji has the rights to them now, but I am the impatient kind. I can think of other designers and patterns that are out of print and it so frustrating when you see something you love and can’t get your hands on it.
