I don’t have many regrets about my needlepoint life, and mostly I’ve come to accept my limitations.
Most of the time.
Except one. I wish I could draw.
When I was a kid and trying to draw there was no “drawing on the right side of the brain” or other techniques to help the inept (me) learn to draw.
And of course my mom, being an artist, started as a child way beyond my level. I suspect this because my daughter also draws well and she was the same way.
It’s as if the teacher who excelled in math has to teach math for dummies. How does a person who actually understands calculus explain subtraction to high schoolers who don’t understand what it is?
Without tools to help people at this basic level, this is very hard.
As a result I don’t draw, never learned, and that’s what I’d do differently.
